Family journeys · Space between the highlights

China with kids, at your family’s pace

A family trip to China works best when the route makes room for the people travelling. Pandas, palace courtyards and neighbourhood walks can sit alongside rest time, familiar meals and fewer hotel changes. Tell us your children’s age ranges and your preferred pace so that we can discuss the practical arrangements before proposing a journey.

Build the day around one good idea

A morning centred on pandas can be enough of a highlight without adding several museums afterwards. In Beijing, a palace visit and a Great Wall outing deserve separate thought about walking and travel. In Shanghai, a riverfront stroll and a neighbourhood stop can leave the afternoon open.

Younger children and teenagers may want different things from the same city. Rather than treating age as a promise of what every child will enjoy, we ask about interests, rest patterns and how long your family likes to spend out at once.

Planning choiceWhat to discuss
Fewer hotel changesWhich cities matter most, and where an extra night would make the journey easier.
A flexible dayRoom to pause or change the order without promising that every booking can be changed.
Transfers and visitsJourney length, walking preferences and the difference between private land arrangements and shared transport.

Pandas as a visit, not a performance

The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a visitor attraction where the animals’ routines and site rules come first. A particular animal or behaviour is not guaranteed. The proposal does not include holding, touching or feeding pandas.

Check the Base’s official visitor information when planning. Facilities and enclosure access can change. A photograph of a panda is inspiration for a visit, not a promise of the exact scene your family will see.

Rooms, meals and the details between visits

Tell us the number of adults and children and the children’s age ranges. Room occupancy, bedding, availability and any child prices need to be checked for the actual hotel and dates. Family rooms, connecting rooms, extra beds and child discounts are not assumed.

Food preferences and the wish for familiar meals are useful to know. Ingredients should be checked with the restaurant; no blanket allergen-free promise is made. Please keep medical details out of the enquiry form. We can first discuss the general arrangements you need.

City time or a mountain extension?

Chengdu’s parks and teahouses offer a different pace from a route through mountain scenery. Our five- and seven-day Sichuan itineraries include mountain visits, walking and longer travel days; they should not be described as equally suitable for every family.

For a first conversation, choose the places you most want to keep and the pace you would like. We can discuss a city-focused journey or how a longer route might be adjusted. The final programme, services and price are confirmed in writing.

A few practical questions

Do you have a fixed family price?

No family price is published on this page. The proposal depends on the party, dates, room arrangements and agreed services. Existing two- and four-person reference prices are not automatically child or family offers.

Do we need to send the children’s names?

Not in this initial enquiry. Age ranges and the number of travellers are enough. Do not send passport copies, dates of birth or medical records through this form.
